This is what will allow you to use 100s and 100s of samples in one Drum Rack without killing your hard disk.ДЇinally, drag the newly consolidated audio clip to the Session View, right-click on it and select Slice to New MIDI Track. Select the option toВ C onsolidate the many audio files into a singleВ audio file. Once the samples are in the Arrangement View, select and right-click them.

By setting the clock to 60BPM and fixing the grid to 1 Bar, the samples all start on the first beat of a bar. Next, drag all of your favorite samples, of a particular type, and drop them on the Arrangement View. Then, go to the Arrangement View and set the grid to a Fixed Grid at 1 Bar. This part is going to sound strange, but just go with it because this is all part of the set upвЂ“weвЂ™re not writing music here. YouвЂ™ll see why we made this preset in the next step. Be sure to check out my previous article on creating more elaborate slicing presets. Drag and drop the Sampler to User Library > Default > Slicing.

Now compared to Transistor Revolution round robin VST or Nepheton/Drumazon. So in NO WAY does the stock ableton 808/909 kits get even close to the sound shaping qualities of a TR-8 (or OG 808/909). Try pitching up the 909 BD in ableton drum rack and hear you're kick become a tiny blip. Even tuning is great for shaping your 909 BD. Feel how pushing hard accent changes the tone/shape of your drum instead of just amplifying volume. See how the snappy knob will completely transform your SD sound by mixing in waveforms. Try the attack knob on you're TR8 BD's and see how it adds click transient instead of just being an EG.

The compressor is actually the least unique parameter to focus one. There is a huge gap in sound design stage and overall sonics. It's the difference in between a rompler, and a VA/Analog. Hardware interface aside, the sound capabilities are vastly different. Unless you REALLY want the hardware interface, save your money.I'm sorry to say but this is terrible advice. In which case you should have a tr-808 OG instead. They are close enough that sound quality really doesn't matter unless you are a snooty analog purist. But the ableton kit has something similar in the drum rack. Turning this makes the tr8 version of the kick more punchy. The tr8 has a built in 'compressor' controlled by a knob.
